Quake has worse guns than doom, but more verticality makes up for it
Doom is generally more interesting when you don't keep weapons and ammo between levels (makes it harder to brute-force every encounter with rockets, BFGs and super shotguns).

Kung Fu for NES is the only beat-em up I really got into, since it's all about reflexes than complex moves or tanky enemies.
I also appreciate Mazinger Z for SNES, due to the immense enemy variety.

My pseudonym is a play on Noah Izumi from Mobile Police Patlabor.
I strongly relate to her and her franchise's outlook on technology.

- in the movie she dismantled a botnet that spread through an OS update: decades before the endless stream of compromised NPM packages and malicious Wordpress plugins
- she managed to conquer the Griffon, because her last-gen exoskeleton didn't have the overcorrecting "neural network enhanced" movement system of the new hotness
This philosophy of "newer is not necessarily better" is a refreshing contrast to many other mecha anime absolutely salivating over equipment upgrades, and is pretty widespread within the Free Software world.
- operating systems like Haiku, the BSD family and even certain Linux distrubutions still actively supporting decades old hardware. (Antix and Void still supporting 32-bit CPUs, or postmarketOS and Maemo Leste still supporting 2009's Nokia N900 cellphone)
- first in line to suggest you buy a second-hand business laptop, instead of an equivalently priced consumer laptop
I guess she is to the mini-ITX builders, mechanical keyboard enthusiasts and the "Linux saved my netbook from the trash!!!"-legend what Lain Iwakura is to the terminally online.
(it's been a while since I last watched Serial Experiments Lain, so I don't ).
Sometimes I think her role in Patlabor 2 should've been about her becoming a Quaker or treating her name as a sign from God or something (considering that she already blew up an Ark to save her city from the aforementioned botnet): rather than just being miffed about getting pigeonholed as a robotics enthusiast.
Mamoru Oshii (director of the first 2 movies, also did some episodes of the TV series and OVAs) was a disillusioned Catholic, so it wouldn't be too out of the question.
(I'm not religious, but I think Jesus Christ was really good at parables/analogies.)
